My only complaint is that the WD Security app for encryption does not work on earlier versions of OS X Lion which the specs do not mention.

I would recommend this to a friend!

does this work with OS 10.4.11?

Yes but not the encryption option. I just received mine and was disappointed. Also on 10.4.11
