Ability to get reception in the woods
I live in an area where DirecTV could not move our dish because they could not get a signal through the trees. I tried a similar product - the RCA Multidirectional Indoor HDTV Antenna - and could only get one channel (public broadcast).
Has anyone had a similar issue and found that this antenna allows them to pull in local channels? The main broadcast towers are roughly 15 miles from my house, but I'm concerned that since we can't even get a satellite signal from DirecTV, getting any local signals will be impossible.
You must have a clear LOS (Line Of Sight) for ANY signal. That applies to anything, TV, internet, etc. that requires a signal. As pretty as the trees are, you can't live in them to get those things. My aunt lived north of Oscoda and she had rabbit ears until cable came along. The best thing would have been to place your house IN the trees but ORIENTED so your LOS is open to the south and the trees won't grow into that LOS. Your other option would be to clear some of those trees but if they are Jack Pines, good luck!
