These are a great buy, they provide great sound in Mid/Hi's. If you want a lot of lows then you might want to get the Yamaha Pair that includes a tweeter for $50 more a pair.
We filled a room about 3500 sq ft with 6 speakers
I would recommend this to a friend!

what hardware is required for mounting the 61/2" NS-C6500 ceiling speakers

Is mounting hardware, templates and instructions included in the shipping box
You need a knife to cut the ceiling tile (on a drop ceiling). Drywall would probably require a little saw.
You'll need a screw driver to tighten the brackets (phillips).
You might want a wire stripper.
You might need a drill depending on what holes you need for your wires.
You will also need speaker wire.

How are the wires hooked up to the receiver?

You'll need regular speaker wires (red/black or white/black) I had a pair of wire strippers, but any sharp knife will do.

You have to strip the wires and there is an easy load plug on the rear of the speaker... you press down and a hole is exposed to put the wire in, NOT your old school reciever that was a bear, easy load.

We even daisy chained speakers together and had no problem getting the wire in the posts, just don't overkill it with Monster speaker wire (you don't need that kind of wattage).
