can't change belt yourself!

This vacuum requires a certified repair center to even change the beater bar belt! It takes specialized tools and removing and usualy replacing the clutch! It also has NO SIDE SUCTION! I kid you not! It also weights 17lbs! NOT EXACTLY "LIGHT"!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What is the noise level of this vacuum?

My dog is deathly afraid of my current vacuum, I suspect because it is SO loud , how loud is this vacuum?
It is slightly less noisy, BUT it has NO SIDE SUCTION and requires a certified repair center just to change the beater bar belt! It takes specialized tools and removing, and most times replacing the clutch just to change the beater belt!

Can the main rotating brush be turned off so floors will not be scuffed?
Yes, but you can not change the beater bar belt yourself! It requires a certified repair shop, specialized tools and removing, usually replacing, the clutch just to change a dang belt! It also has NO SIDE SUCTION! I kid you not! A standard feature on even the cheapest vacuums!
