Very unstable router. Wi-Fi at 2.4G never ever did work well and only gave a fraction of the speed it should have. Wi-Fi at 5G worked well but then every 24 hours it would drop and the SSID would pop in and out and would stay unstable until a factory reset was performed. Even after updating the firmware, the router never did run correctly. If I enabled the protection apps that come with the router it had even greater instability. Needless to say it was a return.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Does the ASUS Router AC2400 RT-AC87U peform reliably with 2.4 and 5G devices?

Some reviews indicate that it crashes and needs to be rebooted on 2.4 and 5. Does the ASUS Router AC2400 RT-AC87U perform reliably with 2.4 and 5G frequencies? Specifically, will it work with Apple TV and if so, which frequency would work best?
2.4G was very unstable (all the time). 5G worked well but went unstable every 24 hours until a factory reset was performed.
