I love this tablet sooo much! I currently use it for art and occasional photo editing. It works amazingly for both!
The physical appearance of the packaging and tablet and pen itself was beautiful. I love the doodles on the box and the simplistic design of the tablet and pen. It's also an added bonus that you can customize it a little!
The actual performance on my laptop is awesome! It works very good with windows 8.1 and all of the programs I have. I also like that it comes with software, which is an added bonus! (I always like getting new software! ^^)
Drawing with the tablet is just plain wonderful! I love the pressure sensitivity! Drawing with a mouse and replicating pressure was a terrible and time consuming thing to deal with.
There are only two problems I've encountered while using this product.
The first being that sometimes the the cursor jitters and jumps when the pen crosses certain places of the active area. It isn't like this all of the time (thankfully) and can be fixed. You can fix it by unplugging the cord from the computer and/or moving the tablet further away from the computer.
The second problem being that sometimes the pen "goes to sleep" sometimes. This is easily solved by again unplugging the cord from the computer and putting it back in. Also tapping it on the tablet a bit and moving the cursor with your mouse or track pad may work too!
Installation of the drivers was super smooth and painless! It did exactly as it was supposed to and didn't have any hassle!
The disc worked perfectly! Although I would recommend going to the Wacom site and downloading the latest drivers fro Intuos.
Getting used to the tablet itself was super easy! I got used to in under a day, it was very surprising considering I've heard can take from a week to a month. If you don't get used to it as quick as I did, using it during browsing and other activities on the computer can help! ^^
There is another part that I'm not going to cover as much because I don't tend to use it as much. This part is the customize-able "Express keys". Those are the 4 buttons on the top of the tablet. I don't use them, nor feel the need to. It's a great tool to take advantage of if you do find yourself using a command or shortcut often while using the tablet.
Overall this is a great art tablet! It's my first one so I would definitely recommend this to any beginners! I have a friend who got this about a year ago and she has had nothing but great things to say about this! ^^
I would recommend this to a friend!

How long will this product lasts

This product will last depending on how good you treat it. If you treat it fairly well it will last for years. Some people have lasted 11 years with their tablets (Not this model but with the brand Wacom).

But it will last fairly long if, like I said, you treat it well.

I hope this answered your question and sorry I'm a bit late!

Will this pad work with GIMP?

Yes it works quite well.
It however won't recognize that you want to use the pen's pressure sensitivity and will act just as it would when you do it with a mouse.
This can be fixed by going to edit > preferences > input devices
And from there you will be able to your pen pressure and eraser. Both of these will be disabled, but you can enable them by putting them to the "screen" option.

You can also change the brush settings to Pen Generic to get the effect you would in, say, Photoshop.

I hope this answered your question! ^^

Is this tablet worth the money?

I want to know before I buy or save money to buy it. Will it last long?
It is definitely worth the money. But you should really make sure that it fits what you want to use it for. You should also make sure that the drivers are compatible with your operating system.

These kind of tablets can last a VERY long time if you take care of it. I've heard of them lasting for over 6 years.
Also, sometimes the pen will act up, but that's the only problem I've run into. It's very easy to fix though.
And be warned about nibs. They wear down and need replacing. Three replacements are included.

I hope this helps and I am sorry if I'm late on helping you! ^^

does the touch feature pick up your hand resting on it when you draw?

It can if you're not careful. But when I draw with this I like to turn off the touch features so that it only registers the pen. This can be done by sliding the little button on the top of the tablet (top of the tablet).

I hope this answers your question and helps out! ^^

Does this tablet come with drawing software?

I've seen the Wacom Manga, and I was wondering if this tablet is the same thing or if it also came with software.
The Intuos Manga is the exact same tablet as this. However the Creative version (this version) comes with different software (ArtRage 3.5 Studio and some AutoDesk applications). Hence the different name.

If you want the bundled software that comes with Wacom Intuos Manga, you will have to get that elsewhere, like the Wacom site.

Can I animate using this tablet?

If not, is there a tablet that I can buy that will allow me to create animated shorts, storyboards, and digital art?
You can animate with any art tablet. The real question is if you have the programs required for animation and digital art.

The tablet comes with some good programs for digital art, so you're set there.

For animation, you can that with Photoshop with the animation panel.

You can do the same with any other program, but you will need to put it together in a video editor.
But if you have a program like ToonBoom Studio, then you're set for animation.

Can you use it as a basic touchpad with your PC?

Yes, the pen and touch version can. You can use your finger since the touch feature is enabled. Otherwise you can use the pen.

For the touch options there are guide to show what actions and motions do what.

Is the software included? Or do they need to be paid for on a yearly basis? In other words, is the software included paid for and ready for use?

The software is included with purchase. To get the software you will have to go and register your tablet on the Wacom website. This requires signing up for a Wacom account. It's very easy to get to the correct place.
You can go there from the disc and I think you may be prompted to there after driver installation.

The software is ready to use after you put in the serial code given by the download button.
As far as I know, it's for life. Otherwise Wacom would inform you if it was a 24-month trial or needed to be paid for after a certain time.

I hope this answered your quesetion! ^^
