I have watched this little dongle develop since it's release, and I am thrilled that I picked one up today, Cyber Monday, for 22.99 + tax! I came home, plugged it in, logged onto chromecast.com/setup, and away I go! It came with 2 free months of Hulu+ as well, and I also have a subscription to Netflix, so I've cut as much of the cable cord as I could, down to basic on one older tv, and I'll have excellent services to watch on my main living room tv! Thanks, Google!

im a tech idiot. i was thinking of buying these for my kids and husband to replace verizon fios boxes. will they still need fios boxes in each room?

also wondering if we have a netflix account, can all three of them be watching different tv shows/and or netflix??
First, you will no longer need the FiOS boxes, as long as you are content to use a digital antenna and your Chromecast device. If you have Netflix, then enjoy your viewing pleasure on every tv at the same time! ;)

Do I need to use any other devices, like a Blu-Ray player or a cable, in order to use Chromecast?

No, just a power source and either a laptop and/or mobile device such as a phone or tablet.

will it add channels?

I have basic antanna (air frequency) tv right now. Will getting this device give me channels like espn?
Yes, if you cast ESPN from your phone or laptop Chrome browser. Otherwise, you will need the WatchESPN app and a cable subscription.

Including chromecast,what would i need to pu local tv live at a summer home

Depending on where your summer home is, a digital antenna, like Flatenna by ChannelMaster, will be perfect! Been doing for weeks now, and LOVE not using cable!
