I purchased the same model and size TV from BestBuy in August 2012 for my computer desk and have been extremely pleased with the picture, sound and functions of the TV, so I bought the same TV when it was on sale before Christmas for my wife's computer room. What a disappointment. It was obvious that BestBuy has changed manufacturers for it's store brand TV. The picture was washed out, the sound was terribly tinny, not at all like the good sound of my previous purchase, and worst of all, channels selected with the remote would not display except for single digit channels. Selecting 57 displayed 58, selecting 16 displayed 35, selecting 14 displayed 31, etc. BestBuy customer service rep tried to blame it on my cable service, but we have 5 other TVs on cable, including the same older model Insignia, all of which display channels properly. The TV's tuner was obviously faulty. I repackaged it and returned it to BestBuy where I had picked it up after ordering it online. It was beyond their 15 day return period, which was not mentioned on the receipt I received at purchase, so they refused to initiate a refund it even though it was a defective product. When I asked about the warranty, they wanted to send it back to the factory for repair. NO THANKS! They would also do an exchange for the same TV. NO THANKS! I don't want to waste time and end up with another piece of junk. Reluctantly, they told me that if the manager approved, I may be able to get a BestBuy gift card for my expenditure. That was baloney, because the clerk proceeded to print out a debit card without any manager being involved. What I was expecting to be a best buy turned out to be a worst buy. Lesson learned at not so BestBuy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I'm starting to need to turn up the volume. How is the sound quality on this tv?

Sound on current model is terrible. Very tinny, absolutely no bass. The same model I bought in 2012 had good sound. They've apparently changed manufacturer.

connect to cable digital channels without cable box

My cable company has digital tv; however, I don't use a cable box and connect directly with my larger Insignias to the cable connection. I just returned another smaller (different brand) tv which had only the ATSC tuner and which wouldn't pick up the cable channels. Will this set pick up cable channels without the box?
Yes, no cable box is needed. However, one I purchased had a defective tuner and would not display the channels selected. BestBuy refused a refund even though the TV was obviously defective. I also have the same TV that I bought in August 2012 which is great, so they have apparently change manufacturer, as the one I just returned had much poorer picture and sound in addition to a faulty tuner.

Can this TV hold up with daily use for a ywar or more?

I am replacing a 20 inch Insignia that suddenly lost it's picture. Troubleshooting didn't help. Has anyone used this model daily for a year or more without problems?
Forget about the 19" Insignia. Apparently BestBuy has changed manufacturers for this store brand model. One I bought in August 2012 is great, but one I just purchased has a washed out picture, terrible sound, and won't display the channels selected with the remote. What's more, they refused to give me a refund for the defective product.

I purchased this 19" LED TV, mail order from Best Buy and it does not work.

How do I return this product and get my refund?
Sorry, if it was purchased more than 15 days ago, they refuse to refund anything regardless if the product is defective. They will only do an exchange or send it back to the factory.
