My dog is an intense shedder and can cover any surface with hair in minutes. This vacuum is amazing for pet hair and allergies, and has EXTREMELY strong suction! Note, if you have laminate floors I WOULD NOT recommend this vacuum because the suction is so strong it pulls up the floor and the vacuum will not move across the floor at all it just sticks to one spot and ruins the floor; but regular carpet, tile and hardwood floors turn out spotless!
I would recommend this to a friend!

How well does it work for shedding dog hair?

My dog is large and constantly sheds, currently I have a rainbow vac, those familiar with this type know that I have to fill it with water (A pain in the butt)
I also have a large dog and I was so impressed with this vacuum. IT PICKS UP EVERY HAIR. that is not an exaggeration I strongly recommend for pet and allergies!

I only have bare wood floors with some grooves in between the planks where stuff gets stuck. Will the brush get in between the planks?

Yes, the bristles are long enough to easily pick up anything in grooves and the suction make the floor spotless!
