We canceled Prism TV but kept CenturyLink DSL. This wireless DSL router/modem was purchased to replace the Centurlink one that was being used for Broadband and TV. Installation was simple and well documented on idiot-proof instructions (YMMV :). Disconnected the old box, connected this new box, answered a couple of questions, and Volia! Works perfectly.
I would recommend this to a friend!

is it comcast/xfinity compatible

and does it have battery back up
No, this device is NOT compatible with Comcast/Xfinity. It is to be used with DSL-type providers (not cable). It does not have a battery backup, but configuration settings are persistent across power off/on. Just plug it into a regular home UPC.
