I have two of these drives. One of them is a little over one year old. The other is about 7 months old. The 1 which is older just quit working. And the newer one has been screwing up. It keeps turning itself on and off. I had to unplug it because it is really annoying. I am working on trying to find someone who can retrieve my data from the one that died. I have contacted WD, and am waiting to hear back from them. I will update as this thing progresses. In the meantime, if you are looking for a reliable storage device, keep looking. This is not the drive you want. Total junk! I am extremely disappointed and angry.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Use on Game System

Can this be used on the Xbox One as an external hard drive?
Yes. I do not use mine for that, but have seen a lot of other people talking about using it for that. But, do not waste your money. Go with a better drive. These things are pure garbage. They last just long enough to outlast the warranty, and for you to give them a favorable review. Then the internal parts, which WD knows are going to fail, fail. Then you have lost all of your data, and it is extremely expensive to recover.

Wil this work on an imac to store movies from iTunes?

Yes. But, you will lose the data in about a year when the drive fails. Purchase another brand, and not seagate either. That is unless you are prepared to transfer the hard drive to a case with a fan. Seagate will outlast a WD if it is being cooled better. They have over heating issues, but are constructed better internally. WD drives are just pathetic internally. They use parts which are known to fail often.
