What's great about it: Amazing capability for little money
What's not so great: Display is mediocre
Part of what fascinates me about Chromebooks is the fact that they've dropped all the baggage of having a traditional OS (it has neither Windows nor OSX nor Linux) yet managed to retain the large majority of the functionality that most people use in a computing device. This $250 laptop can do web browsing, email, video chat, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, video (Youtube and Netflix), Pandora or Spotify, and even simple image editing (see Pixlr.com). To print it needs a cloud printer (either a dedicated cloud printer or a regular printer hooked to a Windows or Mac machine running Chrome).
The display is usable, if nothing to write home about, but you have the option of connecting to an external display either mirroring the internal display or extending it. The keyboard is quite good, and the trackpad uses the two-fingered scrolling technique familiar to Macbook users.
So long as you're not looking to run offline apps (this won't run Office, though Google Docs will open Word, Excel and Powerpoint files), this machine should be able to hold you.
This product is... A touch pad that works great, easy to set up
About me... Budget Conscious, Basic web surfing & emails, Parent with kids, Comfortable with technology
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can my child play Minecraft on this

I have a 9 year old that loves the minecraft game is this laptops able to let him play this game
Very unlikely you can run Minecraft on a Chromebook. I've tried and never got it to work. You should be able to do it on an iPod Touch, though.
