What's great about it: Excellent App (unlike others that ignore app over product)
What's not so great: wish there was an Android app
Ive had my Up band for about 2 years now. Cant say enough about it. does what its supposed to do, and the App interface keeps getting better and better. Unlike others who concentrate on only the hardware, and only release original app and no updates, Jawbone keeps adding more and more great features to the App, making the band even more useful, and not obsolete like other hardware i have purchased that is app drive (Schosche Heart Rate monitor for instance). I truly enjoy reading up my stats when i sync with the "My Fitness Pal" and "Runtastic" apps, which helps me make better decisions on my food choices and workout regimen.
Pair it with the Myfitness pal alone, and you will be fully covered.
I've had issues with my first band, and my customer service experience has been nothing short of exceptional. quick replies to my emails, and superb help and resolution. This alone is a great sell point when buying new tech, since ive been stuck with dud of products due to bad support.
In a field that is crowded, the ever evolving app and excellent customer support is what sets this band apart from the others. PCMag just rated this band the best one in market also. Give it a consideration for your hard earned money. Hope this helps.

Does Gear Fit have the capability to count calories?

I see it will show calories burned, but what about calorie intake?
pair it with MyFitness Pal and you will be set. It will calculate calories taken in and calories burned with both apps sync'd.

On an average ....how much data does it use?

My husband and I share 2GB's per month and usually only use 50%. Would I have to increase my plan?
only syncs local, doesnt send info. out so no data usage i believe. If you are running it with other apps, then sync it nightly at home on wifi and you should be alright.
