What's great about it: compactness, picture quality, ISO range, live view, HD video
What's not so great: video can be little improved, external mike would be nice
D3100 is a really nice camera, a big step forward from D3000. Enjoying the photography with this camera :)
I would recommend this to a friend!

B&W

Does the D3100 TAKE B&W pics? I know you can edit them after the fact within the camera, BUT DOES IT TAKE B&W pics with out having to edit a color picture that was already taken?
- Select Manual Mode - 'M' in the dial
- Press 'Menu' button
- Select 'Shooting Menu'
- Select 'Set Picture Control'
- Select 'Monochrome'
