It's so easy to setup and it works great. I can now get wifi where before it was spotty at best.

Does it extend the signal of a free WiFi?

Parks at a local town provides free WiFi. It requires no password to use. But at some area the signal is very weak. Can I use the extender to make the free WiFi stronger?
Yes, it'll extend the signal of any wifi.

I share a room in somebody's house and they allow me to use their Internet, however, due to the dead zone I get pretty bad wifi signal. My concern is and IF somebody logged into this "extended Network" will it kick me out from it?

No. You're sharing a connection, so multiple users can connect simultaneously.

What do each of the symbols on the front mean?

From left to right, they stand for WPS encryption engaged, PC to Extender (the LED is lit when the Extender is connected to a PC via ethernet), Status (power on or off) and Link Rate (this LED indicates a wireless connection between the Extender and the router. - Green is best. - Amber is good. - Red is poor.)

Will this work with my MacBook Pro?

Yes, I'm using it on my Macbook Pro as a 200GB hard drive. I got the Nifty MiniDrive for Macbook 15" Pro Retina, which is a small $34 adapter that mounts the drive flat in the card reader slot. It shows up like any other device.
