What's great about it: Price, wireless, number of HDMI inputs, bluetooth, airplay
What's not so great: Remote apps are JUNK, sound field toggle is next to volume buttons?!?!, buttons on receiver are hard to read,
Bought this receiver because it was on sale and rave reviews by CNET editors.
Good price, number of HDMI inputs, built-in wireless feature and ease of identifying back panel hookups.
Good luck reading the front of the panel unless the room is COMPLETELY lit up and you have a magnifier. And why would you put the "sound field" toggle buttons right next to the volume buttons on a remote?!?!?! Sound field toggle should be placed elsewhere and not where you can accidentally change it. Ugh. Setup is also a pain because the remote or instructions are not intuitive. And the blue "home" button does not work on certain screens. And during setup, nowhere does it tell you to hold "shift" down as you type characters (ie. wireless password). When you hit the numeric pad to cycle through characters, if you do not hold "shift" down, you will exit setup and switch to the corresponding source. Also, "character" toggles between lower case, upper case and numeric entry.
On CNET and the Sony site, they state there are mobile device apps that can be used with this component. This is technically true but the apps are JUNK. In the main app Sony supports, "Sony Sideview TV", you need to see your tv screen to see what selections are you making/toggling. Same sigh as Sound Field toggle. "REALLY?!" And the "Sony MediaRemote" app, has a nice user interface, but the input buttons do not work. Repeat "REALLY?!" The Sony "AV Remote" app is slick but apparently only for their ES series. "Sony AudioRemote" app only controls the volume and component preloaded music apps. For most of you, you will only use or have a Pandora account. And for you homegamers out there, Sony Tech Support Chat is really nice and fast when. Here's how you connect the component to those apps. On the component remote "Home Network"-"Options" (again, not very intuitive when the screen says in big fat letters 'No Network Detected') - "TV SideView Registration".
More than likely, will return this and try another brand. Pretty disappointed because I was SO ready to acquire to first remote app capable receiver.

What's great about it: Ease of installation
What's not so great: Bulky size
Bought this to supplement my Tivo Premiere since I continuously run out of space. Bought online and received within a 2-3 business days.
Installation was a breeze. Just follow the instructions provided for Tivo users. (1) unplug Tivo device. (2) plug power to this hard drive (3) wait a few seconds and plug into Tivo (4) power up Tivo and follow instructions. Within a matter of minutes, I went from 100% full memory to 32% memory use. Have had the unit a couple of weeks and so far so good.
This product has... Reliable, Fast, Quiet, Large capacity/good size

My old gaming adaptor died so I "had" to buy this. I hate it that it cost so much. It worked great and was relatively easy to set-up.
Going to return it because I decided to to hardwire the home theater area with the Linksys Powerline PLK300.

does it work with Tivo Premier?

Yes it will. I have Tivo Premiere - the basic model that is usable with HD antenna.

Went from 100% full to 32% memory use. Super easy to install. Just follow the instructions provided in the box and then the instructions on the screen once you get both the Tivo and this hard drive powered up.
