Logitech is definitely a leader in this niche market. I am a home theater enthusiast and have built multiple theaters. I finally decided on this Remote. I had been waiting long and deciding back and forth. If you don't want to pay for the higher end Harmony remotes, this is the best choice.
This remote is simple and has limited function, but will take care of 90% of your needs. Anything else and you can use the App to take care of. The biggest con is the remote lacks a blacklight which is a huge downer-the buttons do not glow either.
Yes there Is a learning curve to set up and it takes time, but it is highly customizable and videos online can help guide you. It will handle almost any device and you can customize each button if the full functionally is not already in place from Logitech (which is understandable considering the amount of devices out there)
The app is great for controlling devices and will do everything the remote does and more. It also allows for setting up the hub if you don't want to connect to computer.
By far it is best to set up using a computer.
Do not buy a Harmony without the Hub or RF functionality.
You will not be disappointed. Just take the time to learn to use it and set it up.
I would recommend this to a friend!

If you have apple products this is great. Could have more features and functionality. Screen mirroring and airplay is an amazing feature. I would definitely recommend

Does this work with Playstation 4?

Yes it does! It takes a bit of setting up, just follow the directions and you will be set.

Do you need to use the app to control devices in cabinets

It looks like you can use blue tooth from your smart phone/ipad etc to control hidden devices but can the remote control also control dvd players and other devices behind closed doors?
Yes the remote and the app will work. The remote uses RF to communicate to the hub which will then transmit to device(s). The app communicates with the hub thru wifi then will transmit. Both app and remote will work behind closed doors.

On a side note: The remote does not utilized IR, the Hub does. Make sure the Hub and IR mini blaster are placed correctly, which logitech explains in the manual and online videos. IR devices will work with direct line of sight and closed as long as the hub/mini blaster are placed correctly
