I was the biggest Samsung hater since I had the Galaxy S2 (and S3 very briefly) and went through 8 phones in two years (warranty issues).. I swore off Samsung phones for good... I decided to give this one a chance, sold my Moto Z force and pre-ordered this one. Seemed to be a great deal with the free VR and the 100 bucks off. It does take a little time to get used to the fingerprint scanner and the curved screen but that's not a big deal. I refuse to use the stock launcher so I'm sticking to Google Now Launcher until Google discontinues it. My thoughts on this phone so far have been very positive. The display is amazing (although not by THAT much over the Moto--which is a compliment to that phone). The phone NEVER runs hot, even during the installation process which is a good thing. The battery life is just as good if not better than the moto...and there's a headphone jack!!!! The audio quality was a little disappointing for me--I was expecting HTC boomsound quality but instead it was pretty much on par with the Moto Z (not bad overall but I need MORE output to power my headphones). The one feature I absolutely hate is the iris scanner--takes too long and is too inconvenient. Also, note that it survived a 5 foot front display drop on concrete with no issues. I plan on using this until the Pixel 2 comes out

I've recently had issues with my FiOS router so getting this product to test out was perfect for me. Set up was very easy, even on the dreaded FiOS modem and results were very impressive. I was able to get a strong signal on both bands that went throughout the entire house and even to the very back of my backyard. That's approximately 75 feet longer than the range of the previous router. Overall, great router, good range, easy set up

As a former Surface pro 4 core m owner (I had two malfunction on me so I just returned them), I can tell you the things I liked about the Samsung vs the Surface.
They both feel equally as fast so we'll call that a tie.

The super amoled screen is way better on the Samsung despite the higher pixel density on the surface (still nice though).
USB-C is reason enough to ditch the surface and get the Samsung in my opinion (especially since now ALL my devices are usb-c and I just carry around 1 charger for all of them!). I'm hoping surface 4/surface pro 5 ditches the full size usb port and sticks to one usb-c (just like the MacBook and tabpro).
If having the pen capability is important to you then go for the Surface.
The keyboard and trackpad are also much better on the surface..hands down but the tabpro is similar in quality to the surface pro 3 (so it's not that bad)
I don't think you can say one is better than the other. If you want a relatively thick tablet (by modern standards) that uses a proprietary charger (ugh) and costs more--then go for the surface pro 4. Otherwise, this one should be fine for you

I purchased this on 10/25 (release date) and it's been great for me so far. There were some screen flickering issues that Microsoft already fixed with a firmware update on 11/2. The processor is fast, runs very cool (considering not all core m processors do# and is plenty fast and responsive for all sorts of programs and games. I purchased this to carry around to work and I have a MacBook Pro as my main machine. The Core M Surface runs everything I throw at it almost as quickly as my last generation i5 Surface 2 without the annoying heat and fan issues. I purchased a used surface 3 type cover from the previous generation from ebay for under 50 bucks so that saved me the cost of buying the new one. So far, the surface has exceeded expectations #which weren't the highest for me) and I'm happy with it. Considering the issues with screen flickering were fixed, I would urge people to give it another shot. I am not a paid Microsoft shill or anything like that. My Phone is an android HTC, my main laptop a mac and I even known a Kindle Fire tablet for media consumption on the go...but I really do believe the hardware on the surface pro 4 may be the best in its class

Purchased this item with the $600 discount recently. What a great deal that is for what you are getting. I already own a Surface 3 and I needed to "cheaper" laptop for work. I ended up picking up the Surface 2 and a power cover and now my work computer has better specs than my surface 3!. Aside from the 10.6 inch screen, there is nothing about this laptop that is outdated (considering it was produced in 2013). It has a super fast processor, 8gb of Ram which feels more like 12 or 16 on other laptops, and a nice quick 256gb SSD. Boot times are fast, graphics are pretty good, and the pen is far nicer than the surface 3 pen imo. The only problem is that I am so used to the thinness of the surface 3 that the pro 2 feels really heavy in comparison.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This tablet is actually quite good overall. I was impressed by the build quality and the ease of use right out of the box. What I didn't like was:
1. Having to charge both the device and keyboard
2. Keyboard does not stay in place--can lead to drops if you're used to keyboards that attach magnetically
3. The tablet had a issue charging right out the box. It only charged when it felt like it. This is apparently a common problem with some Windows 8 devices
4. The touchpad on the keyboard is terrible--almost as bad as the original touch cover for the Surface
5. Despite the higher resolution, the display was not better than the Surface 2 imo

I do think that if you get one that works perfectly out of the box, it might be worth trying out. It just wasn't for me. I returned it a couple days later and went to the Microsoft store to pick up one of the last remaining Surface 2 for $269. Windows RT is a much better experience imo...I don't care for desktop applications however.
