What's great about it: Picture quality, viewing angles, tilting stand
What's not so great: Channel surfing over the air is slow & frustrating
I was in need of a 19-inch television, and chose this over the more expensive Samsung 19-inch model. The picture quality of this Insignia model was every bit as good, and the viewing angle even better!
I had heard complaints of Insignia televisions "forgetting" over-the-air stations, forcing one to re-scan for channels. But I never imagined just how frustrating a process this would be, given that I live in Chicago and get very good reception. My tv, on a nightly basis without fail, "forgets" the local NBC channel, Channel 5. In addition, it "finds" duplicate channels elsewhere. Even armed with the knowledge that NBC broadcasts over the channel 29 frequency, I can't manually tune the tv to either channel "5" or the channel 29 frequency. Every day that I wish to watch NBC, I'm forced to do a long and painful automatic re-scan. I really wanted this tv to work. And for all of you out there connecting this tv to a cable box, you will like it. But for over-the-air viewing, being forced to do a re-scan every time I want to watch a major network station with good signal is simply unacceptable. I must return the unit.
This product has... Easy to set up, Great value and features for the price, Right number of connections, Easy to use remote control, poor channel scanning, slow at changing channels

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Is there a firmware/software update for this tv. I just bought it 01/23/13

Just want to make sure it is up to date with the firmware etc.

I searched around Insignia's web site, but I could find no firmware update for this television.
