What's great about it: Decent picture, 4 HDMI inputs, wifi connection
What's not so great: Internal audio, apps, no true black
I spent several months looking at TVs, trying to find a replacement for a 58" Samsung Plasma I purchased 3 years ago. Because of the numerous problems I had with the Samsung unit, and their lack of ability/willingness to correct those problems, that rules Samsung out as a possible choice for a new TV.
Having spent time looking at the features of LEDs from Sony, LG, Toshiba, Vizio, and Sharp, and also spending time comparing picture quality face-to-face, I ultimated decided on purchasing this Sharp LED as the replacement. So far, I am happy with the purchase.
It doesn't have the best possible picture quality available, but at the $1k price point, it's definitely a great bang for your buck. With proper configuration settings, I was able to get the TV to come very close to reproducing correct colors. True black doesn't exist, but being an LED, that was expected.
Some pros are that it has 4 HDMI inputs (with the ability to send audio back to a receiver using the 1st HDMI input), it is a smart TV with wifi and apps (though in comparison to my Apple TV device, the apps are nothing exciting), there are enough configuration options to get the unit setup the way you want it.
Some cons are that the internal audio is horrible (which is true for just about any TV out there today), there is no true back (which was expected and pretty common among LCDs and LEDs), and the tv doesn't rotate on the bottom stand.
Overall, based on the picture quality and the price point, you couldn't go wrong with this TV.

In the set-up mode it asks about a set-top box, what is it?

Set-top box = converter box for your cable or satellite provider.
