I'm male 72yrs of age--been an audiophile most of my life--the top firing driver is a gimmick--the last thing to hear sound is your ears!! the room hears it first----,mids,bass etc are non directional- with the exception of the highs(tweeters)the tweeters fire out sound like a pea shooter--very directional-save your money--buy a cheaper sony like the htnt5--all the sound you will ever need(or hear)--AFTER the room decides what you will hear

owned the sony 380 bar a few months--a starter system in my opinion-own the 55 inch 850 model-was new to bars-heard this one and was blown away!-clearer sound and much more features-can rename inputs-EX hdmi (cable) hdmi2 dvd-etc--the three speakers for left and right make a huge difference--been an audio nut for over 50 yrs and an infinity speaker owner--have the kappa 8s--so I know what I'm talking about--the best sounding and best value youll find --PERIOD!if youre 73 and hard of hearing tv dialogue--save your money on hearing aids--THIS is all you need!

3 months ago I bought the xbr 43 inch tv--superb--but for the last 2 months I thought I could do better-pic wise-and am sure glad I upgraded to this tv--a friend will buy my other tv at a loss to me -but what an upgrade--!!!! better pic and more add ons--so glad I did hey!! you spend a lot of time before your tv---why not watch the best available--I'm 72 yrs old--and have to enjoy the best out there NOW--don't have much time left lol SUPERB tv --sony at its BEST

I'm 72 male- hearings not too good-new 43 4k in sony tv with spkrs facing downward was making it hard to hear--no clarity--sounds like people were talking with hand over their mouth- I live in garden apt so only play at normal levels-either this bar or 5000 bucks for hearing aid-got a good deal on open box--mint--sounds are crystal clear now--no more missing most of dialogue--highly recommend over tinny tv speakers--went back and bought another for tv in puter room---its that good

been sony fan since 1975--needed new tv in kitchen--this replaced a sony 22 inch--as sony doesn't make any lower than 32 inch--couldn't be more pleased--and 720 instead of 1080p does not- due to size of pic anyway degrade the pic quality--looks 1080 to me--small screen helps--all my other tvs =43 inch are sony--still cant beat sony quality---but this Samsung at the price--is equal in pic quality to a sony in my opinion

My last Sony TV Bravia purchased from Best Buy now has red vertical lines running through the screen. Is this a problem with Sony TVs?

How do I get rid of the letterboxing?
cant--wsome are letterboxed some aint--you can expand the pic but degrade it at the same time

my soundbar stays in a mode that says BT TX. what does this mean?
click the rx on your remote control--bottom right--it goes away

When I connect through Bluetooth it rocks the house. However when watching tv and movies I have to turn it up almost all the way to hear voices well. I have a Sony tv and have the hdmi 4 arc connection. Is there no way to get same sound strength for tv?
try voice on remote to number 2 setting---and set to clear audio---good luck

Sound lag soundbar
Just bought the 2.1 Sony Soundbar ($199) to go with Sony 48" Bravia. Connected via audio optical cable. Sound lag. Followed directions to un-sync audio. Still does it. Are there settings on TV for video/sound to help? Would HDMI cable eliminate lag? Should we go to old-fashioned RCA hookup with stereo shelf system and return Soundbar? The lag drives us crazy while watching.
always use hdmi cable over rca--make sure you set tv speakers to audio system

Is the spoken word clear?
very! im male 72 and a bit hard of hearing---no prob with this tv---just make sure its on clear audio and use the sound equalizer to boost upper sounds and decrease lower and you will hear fine

i heard if you tip over a plasma tv it will ruin it. is this true?
plasma tvs are filled with a gas--which can be damaged--and the play time is on average just 5000 hrs-when they dissipate they leave little black dots on your screen which cannot be replaced-do the math--lcd is the best--and now that sony has eliminated the lamp replacement-with a flourescent lamp-(good for 10-15 yrs)-its a hands down winner--all around
