What's great about it: Nimble and light. Very responsive touchscreen. USB 3.0, and media readers
What's not so great: Display is average, battery life lower than expected
I purchased this laptop with the intention of using it as a portable, secure banking and personal finance machine. It has the portable aspect down pat. Weighing in at about 3 lbs, and with it's very slim profile, it fit right into my current laptop bag and there was plenty of room for my tablet, as well.
One of the reasons I went with an ultrabook is because I wanted speed, along with the portability aspect. The 11s is very quick, both on boot, and with opening web pages and applications. The 128GB Solid State Drive is on the small side, but I couldn't be happier with the boot and load times.
The touchscreen is extremely responsive, the best I've used on a touch PC to date. It scrolls quickly and responds flawlessly to touch gestures. The fact that you can use touchscreen gestures on the finger pad is a huge plus, and also worked very well, though I did activate the gestures while trying to find the mouse buttons a few too many times.
The signature of the Yoga series is the ability to fold the screen a number of ways for different applications. I didn't really buy this machine for this feature, but I did try out the tablet mode and it worked just fine. The machine immediately responds when you put it into tent mode, table mode, or display mode, and even suggested apps for that particular mode. Some might not like the app-suggesting 'bloatware', but I found it helpful, and I thought it was a nice touch.
The only real gripe I have with this product is something that probably applies to most ultrabooks, and that is very limited screen and keyboard real estate. I thought I could handle the smaller screen, having gotten used to using tablets, but the 11s has fairly low display resolution (1366x768), which puts it a bit behind its current competitors and really makes having the smaller screen even more of a negative. I also really found that I needed a bigger keyboard and desperately missed having a 10-key number pad. There is also a strange screen flicker when it is running on battery. The screen seems to dim and brighten every few seconds, and that was extremely distracting. This might be due to the unit itself having an issue, or a missed setting somewhere, so your mileage may vary.
Most of those gripes are my own fault for getting into a category that I wasn't sure would meet my needs, and although I've found that an ultrabook isn't for me, it will probably be a great choice for someone who is looking for something in this category.
In all, the 11s is a terrific little ultrabook, and a fantastic value for the price. Just be sure you know what you are getting into and can handle the smaller keyboard and screen. Personally, I will probably keep this unit and use it as a stream box and tablet, and find a larger laptop to suit my original needs.
This product is... A touch pad that works great, A nice compact size, easy to set up, lightning fast
About me... Budget Conscious, Number cruncher (10-key needed), Business Professional, Comfortable with technology
I would recommend this to a friend!

The current RAM is 4GB. Is this the maximum RAM supported or can it be increased (to 8GB for example)?

You cannot expand the RAM on this unit.
