What's great about it: INCLUDED MICROPHONE FOR SPEAKER SETUP.
What's not so great: ALL INSTRUCTIONS ON A COMPUTER DISK.
the unit works great, but i cannot really customize anything without going to a room with a computer and loading the instructions on disc.
the quick setup sheet shows you where the wires go. thats it.
i learned how to use pandora by sheer luck. there are about 10 sound environments for each device, but again there are no paper instructions.
you can hook up 2 sub-woofers to the unit which makes for a lot of fun.
you can also play your sound in 2 separate zones. (great for patios and man-caves). i suggest buying at least 50 feet of heavy duty speaker wire if you are going for full dolby 7 channel sound. have fun, but be patient.
This product has... Plenty of power for all my needs, Interfaces well with TV, Good multi-zone capability, bad instructions all on disc.

I would like the option of controlling zone 2 with an app on my smart phone (such as streaming music, volume, etc.). Is that option availble?

the phone will take commands from a bluetooth device once they are mated. i'm not sure about remote volume control.
