My Passport 2tb remains a decent external 2.5" drive that takes advantage of the USB3 port. There may be faster drives out there (and certain plenty that are slower) but does its job well, respectable times uploading and downloading as well as a quiet drive.
The shell of the enclosure is plastic which is both good and bad. Using plastic keeps it light weight and those considering putting it in a laptop bag won't feel a difference when carried around. The bad is that it can scratch and does show some fingerprints (a minor negative).
Overall, I have moved both large and small files, used 3 different formatting of the drive and it continues to be a steady trustworthy tool. Presently, it is set up for Mac use and as such, formatted. I am glad I made this purchase.
I have not used any software that has come with this drive and thus, won't comment on their usefulness. The price for the drive without any software is worth the purchase. I would like to give it 4.5 stars based on price but 4 stars is what is allowed. I would only give 5 stars if it had an SSD internally.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can I plug this into my router so that all my network devices can back up to it?

Would I need backup software or would the backup in windows be sufficient?
It depends on your router. I don't recommend using USB2 for backups but USB3 is a worthy option if your router has a USB3 port. One thing to realize, depending on your router, some drives will spin down when not in use and you would want to make sure you "wake up" the drive before attempting a back up. This might be as simple as engaging the drive first and then doing a back up or try a script.

Also, some routers may not let an external drive spin down or go into sleep mode which means its always 'hot" or active. This can be good or bad depending on your needs and willingness to bun a tiny amount of electricity continuously.

In sort, no.

You would want to get a USB hub if you have multiple devices beyond the ports available to your computer.
