What's great about it: Sound is near audiophile quality
What's not so great: Most fragile where it needs to be strongest
I am actually sad to have to write a review that can only rate these as a 3. The sound on them, as that is what one buys headsets for, is truly very good. They also have a great additional feature set when used with a PlayStation.
Sadly, they fall down in the durability department. As some others have noted, they can break at the place where the ear cups are joined to the head band. In fact, mine have done so on both sides, and I have no idea how well the super glue will hold long term.
That is very disappointing, as these are not $15 "if they break no big deal" headsets.
It is also sad as I am used to much higher build quality from Sony products.
I did purchase them in store at Best Buy, but did not purchase the replacement insurance as it broke the "not more than 10% of total item cost" rule.
The durability issue is what downs it for me, and makes it so, despite the great sound, I cannot recommend these to anyone.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Will this watch work with the Samsung S3 phone?

It should. I connects to most phones that have both bluetooth 3.0 or above and Android 4.0 and above.

does the phone have to be in your pocket

The watch connects to the phone over bluetooth, so those distance limitations apply, and are variable depending on many factors.

No, your phone doesn't need to be in your pocket, but you cannot wander too far off based on the conditions above before the watch will not be able to get data.
