So much you can do with the pencil; write notes, annotate photos, offers a more flexible sketch and paint stylus than other tools or using your finger.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Great zoom, easy to set up, picture quality is good.
What's not so great: Short battery life compared to equivalent cameras from Canon and Panasonic.
The DSC-HX50V is well suited for on the spot photography. While not exactly "Pocket sized" it is small enough to take with you in pocketbooks, shoulder bags, backpacks, etc. without creating additional bulk. And give it's size, it takes fantastic photos and videos. The 20 megapixel size helps to ensure sharp photos, and the camera contains editing and more advanced features not usually found in a camera this size.
