What's great about it: Good sound without the use of a sub
What's not so great: expensive, remote, devoid of features
All flat panel televisions have horrible sound. I wanted to upgrade the sound of the television we have in our bedroom. We listened to every sound bar at Best Buy and three other big box stores and thought the bose sounded best in the under $500 range of sound bars.
It has performed well for the month we've had it. The sound is good but starts to weaken when listening to anything with a lot of bass. The remote is a little cheesy for the price point but it is functional. I would have also thought that Bose could have squeezed in a bluetooth feature or something to justify the cost a little more.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase, although I think all sound bars are priced too high. If you have room for a receiver, a small sub and some bookshelf speakers you could assemble a solution for horrible flat panel sound for around the same cost as a sound bar that delivers much richer sound. If I had more room I would have gone that route.

too much base.
Can anything be done to drop the base. The sound quality is great but the pounding base drives me crazy.
Yes. In the Bose manual they cover how to lower the bass. Here is the text from the manual:
To select the decreased bass setting
1. Point the remote at the system.
2. Press and hold the Mute button until the following happens:
The system mutes the audio, plays three descending tones (going down) and
flashes the status indicator (page 19) amber three times. Audio returns and the
status indicator turns solid amber.
3. Release the Mute button.
To return to the normal bass setting
1. Point the remote at the system.
2. Press and hold the Mute button until the following happens:
The system mutes the audio, plays three ascending tones (going up) and
flashes the status indicator (page 19) green three times. Audio returns and the
status indicator turns solid green.
3. Release the Mute button.

110-220 volt?
Yes, although an appropriate power adapter will be needed.

a solo bose sound system
I have a 55 inch t.v. does Bose Produce a solo sound system the would take the weight of at.v. this size it weighs 26kg. I have read that the Bose solo being advertised is recommended for sets around 42 inch max weight 30 lbs.
The Bose manual states they recommend nothing over 40lbs (18kg) and nothing with a base larger than 20" wide. Here is the exact verbiage:
TV size limit
The Bose Solo system is designed for TVs that weigh no more than 40 lb (18 kg) and
have bases no wider than 20" (508 mm) and no deeper than 10¼" (260 mm). Most 32"
TVs and smaller meet these requirements.
