What's great about it: I carry it with me everywhere in a slim case & pull it out as easily as a phone
What's not so great: Price for the 512 MB should have been lower
I wanted a surface pro and held out for the second generation. Glad I did. I have seen the RTs returned but not the Pros. The Pro performs well.
I have a light weight carrying case that I take with me while working. It's strapped across my chest most of the day since I am on the move. I can easily grab it and within seconds make my notes, snap a pic, upload and be back on the go. I ordered additional gadgets that help; USB3 hub to give me 4 ports instead of 1, USB3 cable extender, USB3 to ethernet, as well as a mini display to a multi option of VGA, DVI, & regular display. Keep a serial cable adapter to allow for console programming. Holding out for the power cover. You can always use a little more power on any portable but you really need a keyboard for serious typing. I am pushing through but luckily it is coming in early 2014 (hopefully January). I grabbed a small BT mouse and once I have the keyboard I will be able to setup camp anywhere for power play or work.
The nicest thing I can say is that it does what I really wanted it to do... Allow me to be portable and quick as well as do real desktop processor intensive work. Laptops are always a flip open of the lid and the press power button.... Not that it is hard but grab and play and put right back is nice.
The pen is nice but I keep it in the pen area of my bag. Wish it could attach better but not sure how it could. No room inside and I wouldn't want it bigger just for the pen.
APP Store does need to grow, but I have been able to replace most of the apps I use with Windows store versions. Even have a sync for text messages and chats from my phone streamed in. This helps me reduce the amount of items I need to have out at one time.
Improvements always needed in everything but I will say the second generation is well done.

Is this still set to ship next week? Microsoft site has shipping of 512gb in December. Also will I be charged when ordering or a when it ships?
I bought mine in November from best buy online. I just checked and the 512 shows in Stock.

200 GB SkyDrive for 2 years included?
The Microsoft site says it is included, but Best Buy has no mention. All that is mentioned is 12-month subscription to Skype.
It does. Skydrive and a year of Skype.

Does it use Flash in the browser now?
Can you use flash websites like marvel comics reader in the IE browser or play any flash games?
It always has, but only in desktop view.
Apple kind of started this by saying flash is dead and we are going to be the only device in the world (ipad, itouch, iPhone) that will not run flash. Thanks to them that pushed HTML5 and the like into the fore front faster. Nothing wrong with HTML5 but Apple completely ditched support of flash which means everyone has to update their websites or Apple consumers won't get to see all your website. The built in APP version of IE doesn't support flash but can be set to either show none support or offer to go to desktop version. The desktop version does support flash and of course you can download many other browsers into the desktop area and use those with flash as well.

software compatibility
Will Photoshop and Lightroom work with this device?
Yes. I am using photoshop and it works well. Have not noticed any lag. I did hookup a second monitor. 23 inch 10 point touch. Having two screens is helpful in photoshop as I am sure you will agree. The touch is a nice option for the second screen... Using the mouse keyboard and touch just makes the flow of work smooth.

According to Microsoft the surface pro 2 will have a 12 volt cigarette charging optional accessory. Will it be sold by Best Buy?
In early 2014 it will have its car charger with additional USB charging slot.

I don't know for sure but I would say they will. Best Buys have a section just for Microsoft, Apple and other companies accessories within their areas. This is a reasonable accessory for many people and best buy has a pretty good selection of items.
*Lost my pen for the Pro and had to buy another. Was able to glance at the accessories while I was there.

Does the Surface Pro 2 come with 512GB/4GB (per BB) or 512GB/8GB (per Microsoft)?
All external sources including every Microsoft source indicates that the Surface Pro 2 512GB comes with 8GB RAM.... yet the BB site states only 4GB, which I believe is incorrect.

Expandable memory via SD card
Both the original Surface RT and Surface Pro could expand their memories via SD card slots - does the Surface Pro 2 have the same capability?
