If I hope this outside to my existing coax cable from my old Direct TV mount do I need anything else to hook to my digital TV in order to pick up high def signal

They make you want to think that way but an antenna will be an antenna, no special antenna needed. When you connect to your existing coax, you should be pleasantly surprised.
