I had the same issue. I bought this in store and when calling the best buy customer service line, the representative had to call me back after speaking with their "codemaster". I presume that's the one who handles all the digital content. He said he'd call me back and he did, providing the code on the phone to put into the Ge-Force Experience App on Windows 10. Now, Destiny 2 is queued up and ready to be downloaded when it releases.
Give the corporate customer service a call and have your customer service number ready (bottom of your receipt).
