What's great about it: Intuitive set up & use, Apple iOS, consisten product and support
What's not so great: The screen size
I have owned a Droid Incredible, Apple iPhone 4, HTC One and now a second iPhone 5. I opted to replace my previous iPhone5 with the HTC One, but returned the phone after hating the HTC Sense overlay on Android. I even opted for the iPhone 5 over the 5C or 5S because the jump in speed was not big enough to warrant the cost.
That being said, this phone has been the one to beat for 2 years in my opinion. The HTC One would be perfect, except for the HTC Sense overlay. Samsung's Galaxy S4 and LG's G2 are both nice, but each has a quirk or two that detract from the phone. Apple's iPhone 5 is beautifully designed and constructed, the new OS is easy to use, and this phone is still lightning fast compared to the majority of the competition. If Apple would throw in a 4.5-5" screen, it would be PERFECT.

What's great about it: The screen size, the physical build & feel of the phone, the price
What's not so great: HTC's Sense skin over the Android OS
I have previously owned a Droid Incredible and Apple iPhone 4 and loved both equally. After cracking my iPhone 5, I opted to trade in for the HTC One. I was happy with the bigger screen and metal build of the phone, which gave a quality and high-end feel lacking in the Samsung Galaxy S4. However, I could not get past the HTC Sense software that made using the phone cumbersome. If you are an Apple user, stick with Apple. If you prefer Android, I'd advise going with a stock Android phone over an HTC One with Sense.

What's great about it: Small, discrete, easily syncs, plays through car stereo
What's not so great: Poor voice functionality, poor sync with iPhone, horrible battery
I bought the Roadster 2 to have a hands free device for my iPhone and to stream music through my car's speakers. After 4 days use, this unit stopped working. The overall call quality when it did work was fine, and the ability to sync to my iPhone was ok. However, there are other units with built in voice commands and better functionality that do not break after 4 days. Unless you are married to the Android ecosystem, try another model.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What if there are issues with this "new" phone within the first 30 days?

This is a new, out-of-the-box phone and it's already freezing up during online use and disconnecting during some app usage.
If you have the receipt and bought the phone from Best Buy, you can return the phone or have them address the issue.

Could I get an Iphone 5 with a 1 year contract?

I am an exchange student in Texas right now and I would like to get an Iphone. My host family has get an Iphone 5 for 100$ with a two year contract. So, I was wondering if I could get an iphone 5 with one year contract? If the answer is yes, how much would it cost?
If this wont be a possibility could you tell me if I could get the galaxy nexus 4 by the same process?

No, the phone companies subsidize the cost of the phone with the two year contract, which are bulk-rate contracts that are not amendable.
