What's great about it: Easy to use, the package comes with a great DVD.
What's not so great: I'm sure there is something but not really sure yet.
I bought this for my wife she loves to take pictures. We had a awesome hand held and this was her first DSLR. She loves it. I am sure if you are familiar with higher end DSLR cameras the features may leave you less than impressed but if your moving into them for the money and the picture quality difference it is amazing. I looked at these several times and for the price over 500 and under 700 it's a great buy. We went around after the east coast snow (we never get it) and I just did the point and shoot without knowing really anything about the camera and I took some really great shots. So if you are asking yourself is there a real difference...the answer is YES!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can you buy auto focus lenses

I am thinking about buying the D3100 but does it have an auto focus option on the camera itself or is there a lense you can buy seprately or is the only way to focus these cameras by hand?
It auto and manually focuses. the Lens I got with the camera and the extra lenses both auto focus.
