What's great about it: Giant Robots and Monsters
What's not so great: Annoying lead female character
Story is okay, but the special effects and good old fashion monster movie elements are what make this as must own.

What's great about it: Cool design and great feel
What's not so great: Price, annoying scroll click sound (but workaround available)
Very sleek and cool device, but a little spendy. I got it to compliment my new Surface 2; but in all honesty I don't use the mouse very often with the convenience of the touch screen and the touch pad on the keyboard.
When you use the touch scroll feature it makes a very annoying clicking sound ... not sure who thought that was a good idea. And at first look, there is no way to turn it off. This would have been enough for me to take it back, but I called the MS store support and they informed me that there is a free windows store app to download that allows this setting to be turned off on my Surface 2 ... problem solved!
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was using the Wi-Fi built into my Century Link DSL modem and it did not have as much reach or speed as I wanted, so on advise from a knowledgeable salesrep I took a risk on this much higher priced wireless modem.
I did not know wireless could be this fast ... wow! I have 25mbs internet connection, and am getting the full bandwidth over wireless ... as a comparison I was only getting 1-2mbs over the built in wifi.
I found that I could not communicate to other devices on my wired network and the documentation did not cover this common scenario where I just wanted to add another Wi-Fi hotspot to my network, not create a new sub-network. After much digging and a little luck, I got it to work so that all of my networked devices (wired and wireless) could communicate. In case others are interested: 1) Configure the device while disconnected from your network. 2) Set the IP settings to match your network settings and Disable DNS. 3) Connect to your network using one of the network ports ... DO NOT use the WAN port.
This device supports dual band and has a dual core processor. Newer devices take advantage of the 5G band, but older devices can still connect. I am not a heavy media streamer, but all family members stream video at times so it adds up. For a smaller family, one of the less expensive models may be enough.

What's great about it: Backlight, thin, great feel

I love the type 2 keyboard. I didn't think the backlighting would make that much difference, but I would never go back after using it.
I compared this to the touch cover and was thinking of getting the touch cover since it was much thinner. But what I found after trying both is that the type cover did not feel noticeably thicker while I was holding it with the case closed and the material felt nicer on my hand. So for me the type cover is the way to go.

I was amazed at how easy it was to type with the touch cover, it did not take a lot of adjustment like I thought it would. I could type almost as fast as I can on the type keyboard.
The touch cover is much thinner than the type cover, but I found that I did not notice the extra thickness of the type cover and liked the feel of the type cover material better.

What's great about it: Thin, convenient keyboard/cover combo, beautiful picture and sound
What's not so great: Keyboard should be bundled at price point and app selection still needs improvement
When the original Surface devices came around I decided to by the ASUS VivoTab RT tablet instead because it felt better in my hands and the 1 position kickstand of the original surface was too limiting in using as a tablet in my lap.
The new Surface2 fixes the tablet mode issues with s 2 position kick stand ... small thing but it makes a huge difference. I can now use fully with keyboard or fold the keyboard underneath and kick out to the lower kickstand position which matches exactly what I did with my ASUS tablet.
But the added benefit over my old ASUS tablet is that when I needed a keyboard, I had to dig the keyboard dock out of the drawer and dock it in to use it and then go put it away after. But with the Surface 2 the keyboard is instantly there when I want it and conveniently out of the way when I don't and it doubles as a cover.
This really is the best blend of a consumption device and productivity device.
I bought this knowing that I would only be able to run WinRT software, but was okay with that as I wanted a tablet, not a notebook and the Surface Pro 2 was too bulky for what I wanted. I will admit that with the convenience of the keyboard access and the high resolution screen it would be a bonus if it could run the full desktop software as well ... perhaps when the Surface 3 comes out they will reconsider the processor.
The Surface 2 is much faster than my ASUS and I never feel like I am waiting for the OS.

Will the Surface 2 come out with a stylus??
I am a high school student looking for a tablet but the main reason I want a tablet is to do artwork and graphic design. I am debating between the Surface 2 and the Samsung Galaxy 10. 2014 Edition. There are many pros and cons to both, but I really love Microsoft products but the big con with the Surface 2 is that there's no stylus. The Samsung Galaxy has the "S pen". Just a thought and would love to know. Thanks!
It doesn't come with a stylus, but you can buy a stylus to use with it; although it is not the same caliber as the stylus that comes with the Surface Pro 2.
