What's great about it: Video quality, sound quality
What's not so great: battery life could be better
This is a great consumer camcorder. As someone who works in the television business, I look for quality video and audio. This camcorder achieves that. Like any new technology, there is a learning curve with this device. It is far superior to the 8mm camcorder I had previously. I recorded my daughter's Bat Mitzvah from the back of the sanctuary not knowing how well the audio would pick up. It did very well considering the distance. I highly recommend this product.

What is the actual max continuous recording time?

Is it possible to press record only once and then have the camcorder record continiously until the battery dies or the sd card is full? I read earlier the file size is 1.8GB (approx 20 mins) and then a new file is automatically made but does this mean that the cameraman is required to press record again or does the camcorder still continue to record after reachng the file size of 1.8GB? For my particular sport I will not have the opportunity to press record every 20 mins and hopefully this camcorder is capable of continuous recording. Thank you.
It will continue to record until you stop the recording. It just breaks up the recording into 20 min files. When you play it back, it will play continuously with only a fraction of a second pause between files as one ends and the next one begins. I didn't find it to be a significant issue.
