Working next door to a Starbucks is dangerous! My iPhone Starbucks app was down to less than $3. I had a choice to make with Best Buy not out of the way on my commute so I frequent it regularly. The easy alternative was to simply 're-charge' my account within the app. However, the other alternative was to pick up a new gift card while in Best Buy and load it into the app. Either alternative was the same cost but had the additional advantage at Best Buy of having it apply towards the $3500 Elite Plus and receive points. Every little bit helps. It wasn't a hard decision to make. With a little planning, just pick one up when in Best Buy for Starbucks or any other restaurant/store you frequent where they offer gift cards.

Was going to order a Hoya, but decided to check the store first. Already have the 67mm but needed the 72mm for two lenses, Sony/Zeiss 16-35 and Sony/Zeiss 70-200. Had no concerns about the 70-200 which is the primary lens will use with. Manatee coming into the spring from the cold and need to cut the water reflection. It was the 16-36 (full frame a7rII, not crop sensor) that gave me concerns as deep rim filters on an ultra-wide lens will have vignette due to the angle of coverage. I am happy to report that, like the Hoya Pro I intended to get, it has a narrow rim and no vignette. Also, while brought clouds out in test shots with and compared to without the filter, I didn't notice any colorcast shift either. Since this was with a full frame camera, for reference on a crop sensor camera, the lens would be 11mm or lower.

What's great about it: Picture quality and price
What's not so great: Only one HDMI with no direct internet.
The 28" in the bedroom died and this was the perfect upgrade. Did consider the smaller size and quickly dismissed, particularly with sale prices on 32" consistently bringing prices equal to or lower than the 28" class. The one that died after only 3 years was an 'discount' brand so stuck with name brands. In addition to LG, short list included the competing level Samsung and Sony. Only advantage Sony had was matching a DVD player attached to the Sony in the living room, but price was consistently higher, and this was a 'second' set. Initially took the Samsung to the counter for checkout then realized it didn't have the audio out to connect something as basic as a soundbar, quickly returned, got the LG and got back to checkout and the one person ahead of me was just finishing. Thank you person ahead of me!
The TV itself is great out the box. Initial setup is easy. picture not oversaturated so didn't have to adjust like I would the Samsung. Sound quality is good. While I don't use the LG remote other than the initial setup, went online and got the code for the DirectTV universal remote and works fine.
The only downside is the lack of internet (wireless or LAN) and only one HDMI connection. But that is true with every TV in its class. The irony is, the next class up adds either "Smart TV" or 1080p AND a second HDMI. With the current HDMI occupied with a non-smart DVD player, that second HDMI in the lower class would allow connecting a Roku, AppleTV etc, suddenly making it an internet connected Smart TV. Now I just have to swap them out with the DVD in HDMI one. Not that big a hassle as I keep my Apple TV portable for wireless presentations from the iPad at the office, s all my TVs have a pre-connected HDMI cable for easy hookup without climbing behind the TV. With this LG, simply disconnect the HDMI at the DVD and use it.

What's great about it: Easy setup, recognized all devices, great printing, photos and text
What's not so great: Wireless was a little confusing on setup
Wife need new ink in her ancient printer and was essentially cheaper to fully upgrade to new printer than buy ink. This was the next model up, so wasn't a true break even. Doesn't appear to use 'starter ink' cartridges like competitors. Very easy to set up. Only confusing part was wifi instructions to press button on router for setup linkage WEP authorization signal. Didn't see an obvious button anywhere on the Linksys router bet experimented, pushing various light indicators and got lucky. Works fine, and every computer and tablet recognizes it. By contrast, also got an HP laser printer and Canon's is far easier than HP's.
Print quality is excellent and ink useage appears to be moderate. Overall, highly recommend.

What's great about it: Original, Great Price at Best Buy
What's not so great: Hard to find
Don't know how long HP will support as newer printers in the same class use a different cartridge. Those are cheaper, but capacity is less. Best buy is actually cheaper than the office suppplies. If it gets to the point where all 4 need to be replaced, will probably look at a new printer and the strter cartridges.

What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: lens hood won't fit
I usually don't use filters - particurally not UV to "protect" the lens as there is always some compromise in optical quality by adding that extra piece of glass. Two "must have" filters are te CPL Polarizer (not linear polarizer) and a ND - neutral density - filter. A polarizer is a unique filter that requires turning the filter for increased effect. Obciously, you need some contrast to show any effect so can't do it in the store. Outside, two main areas are landscape - look at the clouds against the sky as you turn the filter, and when you have water glare. As a realtor, I use it when taking front photos of homes, and bringing out cloud detail really ads depth to the photo. Also, was kicking myself on procrastinating on the purchase as I took video of manatee but need the filter to cut the glare off the waer surface.
It is inexpensive and it works. If I had wanted "better" I would have gotten Hoya, B+W or others at $50+. Th biggest issue is more on lens planning so you don't have to buy multiple sizes of the same. My Tamron 17-50 and Nikon 70-300 both use the same 67 size, but the equally good Tamron 70-300 uses a 62 size and wasne of the major issues when deciding between the two.
Not certain what the other person was referring to on CPL and "going black" when the opposing polarizing lines match up. Reality is, Hoya and others try to do just the opposite, giving you extra f-stops by NOT going black. Of course you pay dearly for that convenience feature
Would recommend this for 95% of the people as is optically good whiich is all you can really ask. The other 5% won't be satisfied unless they ger the Hoya, B+W and others.
The only dislike isn't a issue with the filter. Rather, with the filter in place, the lens hood will not fit. You have to be careful as it adds the potential for glarereflecting off the lens.

What's great about it: Wireless with iPad
What's not so great: connectivity limitations
I use this for a slightly different purpose than the typical TV entertainmment. I give presentations both for business and in Toastmasters. Next month I am giving a presentation on a hobby to a photo club I'm a member of. I try not to be tied down to a laptop giving a Powerpoint presentation.
I got this to use my iPad, wirelessly sending the slides while free to work among the audience. No more teathered hostage to a laptop! Basic setup is HDMI out to projector and onto a big screen, or alternately HDMI out to an input on a TV. My smartphone is setup as a hotspot for both the iPad and AppleTV, because I typically if I am presenting in someone's home, I can't ask what their network password is.
Weakness? Lack of an analog 3.5mm jack like the previous generation had. Occasionally I have multi-media presentations, invluding a quick video. While HDMI does transmit audio, the speaker on the projector is a joke, particurally in a large conference room. The other port on the Apple TV is for audio - which runs concurrently with HDMI - but it is digital optical rather than the 3.5mm analog, and most powered computer speakers are analog, requiring a $50+ analog-to-Digital (DAC) converter. There is one speaker - Audessey LES - which accepts both analog and digital inputs and they are phenominal! Best Buy online is perpetually "out of stock online" and had to get them at the Apple Store.
More traditional uses? Rarely use as duplicates Smart TV programs of my Panasonic and Sony TV or BlueRay player. Could see it if traveling though.

What's great about it: Probably does protect the screen
What's not so great: 1. Cost too high, 2) Personal compromises too great.
Should never had listened to the salesperson as he talked me into the "non-glare" when I had the regular in my hand. Addition benefits at the same price (normal $5 difference) when paired with the Platinum case also purchasing.
Installed on phone and it lasted all of 20 minutes before I ripped it off and threw it in the trash. Initial problem was trying to put the Platiinum case back on and wanted to peel up the corners. Presume that would not happen if I waited a couple days for it to dry, then put the case on, but it didn't last that long. The last straw was when I turned the phone back on. The slightly muted screen was OK and an acceptable compromise for the no glare/smudge finish. What was totally unacceptable was the small speckles of color, primarily red, over the entire screen as reading my email. Very noticable and distracting against the whitish background on the email page. Photographically speaking, it would be called "noise" but I never looked at a photo before I ripped it off, but would be resonable oto expect photos to have muted colors from the screen and of course, the noise added.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Playing music from phone on tv

I have an LG Smart TV and it has a feature that allows me to play music from my Android phone on the tv using Allshare. Does this tv have this feature or is it only the smart tv's that has this?
NO. This TV has no wireless features and would be dependent on external devices to create the wireless "Smart TV" function attached to its single HDMI input. The semi-good news is that it has an audio out where , for music, you could add a soundbar speaker system (or better), where the competing Samsung doesn't. While I don't listen to music on the TV, I regularly stream video from iPad to AppleTV which works great. While it would work from an iPhone, I have an Android phone and don't know what the similar solution would be. I don't think the recent Google TV offering provided the equivalent 'air-play' wireless function between devices.
