 Nikon - AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED Macro Lens - Black
Nikon - AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED Macro Lens - Black
Nikon AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED Macro Lens: Turn every photo into a work of art with the Nikon 60mm macro lens. This lens depicts every intricate detail for extreme close-ups and life-size reproduction, including photos of newborns, artistic portraits, flowers, insects, jewelry and other small objects. Advanced lens coatings and high-quality glass provide excellent clarity for handheld shots, and the large aperture permits low-light shooting without the need for a flash.

What's great about it: Sharp photo's
What's not so great: Focusing is a little tricky. Wish I'd purchased the longer lens
I bought this lens last year as an introduction lens for macro photography and to give me something to play with around the lawn and garden. It has crisp pictures but I find focusing to be a little touchy. I'm having to learn to be a little more patient with Macro photography as getting depth of field seems to tougher than with landscape photography. Overall a great lens but wish I'd have purchased one with a little longer reach. This lens requires you to get VERY close to your subject.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Will this lens be good on a Nikon D5100?

The 60mm macro lens is ok if you're shooting stationary objects. It is not a good bug lens as you need to get the lens to close to the subject for a reasonable picture. If I had to do it all over again, this is not the macro lens I would buy.
