Can I mount this to a motorized rotator?

Yes! The antenna is multidirectional and will receive TV signals from the front and the back. But you can definitely mount this model to a rotator.

I see these listed in distance i.e. 30 miles, 60+ miles, etc. Do they also work well if some station towers are closer than the specified distance or do the towers need to be that far away to get the reception?

Hi Robbie, the towers need to be "within" the distance listed to receive TV signals. For the ClearStream 4MAX, it can receive TV signals from a tower a mile away or from a tower as far as 70 miles away. I hope this helps! Hi Don, thank you for your question! We do not have any 4MAX antennas with internal amplifiers. With an outdoor antenna the signal reception is usually a bit stronger than that of an indoor antenna, so we recommend an external amplifier for our 4MAX antennas. The reason for this is some folks don't realize that if you try to use an amp too close to the broadcast towers it can very well make your reception worse. So, we recommend an amplifier like our Jolt Switch, https://store.antennasdirect.com/jolt-switch-tv-antenna-amplifier.html, that can either be remove or turned on and off just in case the amplification is not needed. Can this antenna use the amplification built into the Tablo. The amplification internal to the Tablo can be toggled on/off but I would like the option to have the Tablo amplification on with this antenna.

Hi there, since the ClearStream MAX-XR is a passive antenna, yes you can use this antenna with the Tablo and the Tablo internal amplification on the device. I’m located in the hills. Have one opposite my home. It’s way above the house. I did have a regular antenna years back, and received a few channals from 50 miles away. Will this antenna work for me and how many channel?

Will the placement height of the antenna matter. 4ft of the ground vs 15 ft?

Hi there! With any antenna placing it at the highest point you can, will achieve the best signal reception possible. The placement does matter, however, if you are placing it outdoors instead of indoors you should have no issues receiving all the available channels for your area as long as the antenna is facing the closest broadcast towers. We do have a free app called Antenna Point you can download to your iOS or Android phone. Once you download, the app will identify your location.
