Why do you need the optional SiriusXM tuner? Is it not built in already? Not sure what the description means by "Satellite ready" then.

It has the port ready for SiriusXM adapter, SXV300. If you wish not to get this adapter, you can also download the free smartphone app and stream via Bluetooth.

my 2004 monte carlo ss has onstar and sterio controls key auto functions, oil life,resetting tire inflation,lighting ect. is this sterio capable of this function

In order to retain these features, you would need to incorporate iDataLink (3rd party accessory) to make this function.

Does this system read out texts or ask if you'd like to send? What if I have a back up camera in my car?

Yes. This is a CarPlay feature. The unit will give you an audio readout of your new text messages in CarPlay. This unit can also adapt to most aftermarket rear backup cameras.
