DisplayPort 1.2 Input ... What does this even mean?

I'm just now, in the past hour, looking into 4k monitors and displayport standards.

As far as I can tell... this is the only monitor that lists the version of the DisplayPort input. The more I search, the more I'm beginning to think there is no input "version". There is definitely no DiplayPort 1.2 cable, or diplayport 1.3 cable. The cables have no version.

So I guess my questions are two.

1. Do DisplayPort INPUTS have a specific version? I'm beginning to think the answer is no.

2. If that's the case, why does this monitor list the input as DiplayPort 1.2?

A standard DisplayPort cable, often called DisplayPort 1.1) will work for any DisplayPort configuration including the new capabilities enabled by DisplayPort 1.2 cables. So the typically verison is not stated.
