does this device run on electricity with a cord to plug in or does it just run on battery only?

i hope it does have an electric cord to plug in. i don't want to think about having to change batteries. i know it has a battery back up system, but i don't see anything about electrical. if it does run on electricity, it is the one i'll buy because i think the projecting of what's on the clock onto the wall would be cool.
This product uses a power cord with the optional battery backup.

How do you hook up the RVU connection? I have Directv currently but it's hooked up with an HDMI cable. What do I need to get the RVU connection hooked up? An optical cable? A special box from Directv?
The RVU will work with the coaxial connection from your wall.
