I am a little confused with how this product works.

Is the aux cable plugged into your car's aux port (because mine does not have one)? Or is the aux port connected to your phone's headphone jack?

The aux cable goes from the output on the wireless aux connector (this product) to the aux input port of the car. You then use Bluetooth on your mobile device to transmit audio from your device to this transmitter, which then sends the signal to your car's stereo via the aux port. So, if your car does not have an aux port, then this device will not work.
