Compatibility with Rogers Cable box

Hi,

I'm having problems using this splitter with a Rogers cable box (Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4250 HD). The Rogers box displays a message claiming that the splitter is an illegal device and shuts down HDMI output. I guess it has something to do with HDCP protection. Have you had success using this splitter with Rogers cable/satellite sources?

Do these machines have a full version of Windows 8 installed on them?

I have purchased two of these refurbished machines. The first one needed a Windows Activation code and Geek Squad said the only thing to do was return it. The second one I purchased has the same issue where it is asking for a Windows Activation code. I didn't want to send it back so I tried purchasing a new code following the directions on the computer and it will not let me purchase a code. What am I to do?
