Unable to use card

When I placed a new card in my camera- Konica Minolta DImage Z6, I am getting the code "unable to use card"... This is the correct card to use, so what is the problem? It freezes up the camera so I am not able to format it, I can only turn it off. This is frustrating, please help.

Yes it with work make sure camera is formatted to and software update are good
