Just what I was looking for with just enough extra's (sleep timer, etc.) to fit the bill. I use it for CD's, radio, USB song playlist and I connect my NOOK to it by bluetooth. My Nook never sounded so good. It's my bedroom stereo and has great sound. As mentioned in other reviews, it does not BLAST out the sound, but it goes up pretty high. It is measured from 1 to 25 and I usually keep it around 18-23, depending upon the sound source. With the Nook, it is excellent for Pandora and for audio books.
I would recommend this to a friend!

First receiver purchased in a long time. Needed to use it for TV, DVD, VCR and tape deck, with older hook up jacks. Went back to the store for help with hook up. Very friendly and helpful, but it didn't work all the way. Eventually had to go to the manual to really get it right. Manual is electronic PDF file. That is a real bummer as I had to use my computer anytime I wanted to look up one little thing and I had to constantly scroll back and forth through the pages and it is hard as heck to browse in an electronic manual. So sorry that Samsung could not have spent the couple of bucks to print the manual and include it. Unfortunately, Samsung is not alone. Receiver, however, is working fine. It is just what I needed and it sounds very good. Now if Samsung could just get that manual thing correct, instead of being so lazy and cheap about printing a copy. I shouldn't have to print my own copy. No complaints with the receiver, it is fine. Headphone jack was loose in first set and Best Buy replaced receiver without hesitation. Thanks to Best Buy.

Alarm Clock?

I read that this system has a sleep timer. Does it also function as an alarm clock? If so, what sources can be used for the alarm (radio, CD, bluetooth)? Also, would you be able to stop the alarm with the remote?
Yes. I had to read the manual, I've never tried it. (And you get a paper manual, not the on-line only garbage. Yeah!) You can program the unit to turn on at a preset time. You then program the source you want to start at that time...CD, USB or Radio. It doesn't mention Bluetooth. I suspect you can't use Bluetooth with a preset start time. To turn it off, you can hit the power button on the remote. It does not have an alarm feature. Hope this helps.

Does the remote switch from radio to cd?

Yes, you can switch from Cd to radio to Bluetooth to USB ALL from the remote.
