What's great about it: I can watch tv, dvr content and local sports teams anywhere
What's not so great: Need a great quality internet connection on both ends
This is AWESOME! It allows me to watch my recorded shows anywhere on my computer, iPad or iPhone. On my Verizon iPad, it lets passengers watch live tv and sports while I'm going 70 miles per hour!
As a tv junkie, the ability to watch it anywhere is great.
Setup was fairly simple, connecting cords according to the diagram in the box. To activate the service, I set it up through their website which was also very straightforward. I did run into an issue with ports on my router but through some google searching I had this fixed in about an hour.
The picture quality is excellent, but that is because I have Fios fiber optic internet with a lot of upload speed, and good download speeds in most places.

Do you have to buy a Slingbox app too?

If I use the Slingbox 350 with the Direct TV genie dvr , will I have to buy a Slingbox app too on my ipad or iphone?
Yes, tablets and phones require the Slingplayer app ($15 currently) it is a one time purchase. You can watch for free in a browser on a computer or laptop.

Does this work on Dish and do I need to buy anything else?

Basically, I want to know if it's compatible with dish. Do you need to buy anything else. I read the reviews and it said apple, but I use android. Is it compatible with that as well? Also, if it's not wireless how do you watch on your phone or tablets? Are there any other equipment, monthly fees that i need to be aware of. Thanks
It will work with Dish. I'm not familiar with the Dish receivers, but you need the 5 colored connectors for best quality (Red, Blue, Green video and Red, White for audio). Setting this up on DirecTV for my tech savvy Grandma, we needed a $7 adapter from DirecTV.

It does work with Android devices, both phones and tablets. I have used both. The apps are currently $15 (one time purchase) there are no recurring or monthly fees.

It does require a hard wired connection to your router, but the devices you watch on (phone, tablet, laptop, etc) can all be wireless.

what is internet cable/dsl/satelite speed/bandwidth requirement for slingbox?

understanding that I need internet conection at second location to use slingbox, but at what is the optimum speed to watch programing from there to here?
For best quality HD picture you need 2-3 Mbps. You need this as UPLOAD speed at the location of the slingbox (some internet connections and providers are well below this for upload)

You also need that same speed for download at the location that you are watching.
