Okay I am a self proclaimed computer idiot. I currently have the regular type of computer ( screen, tower etc). Getting a laptop, do I just plug the cable for my internet service into it, and the wire for my printer into it?

You can use cables to plug them into the computer. It sounds like you may already have a modem in your home. If you purchase a router, you may be able to connect the printer and the internet wirelessly.

Have you tried adjusting the antennae? It might help! Unless your home is made out of something that is difficult to get signals through, you should be able to connect.
