What's great about it: Great camera for someone who wants an inexpense, easy to use DSLR.
What's not so great: Some of the settings are hard to understand for someone new to DSLR photography.
I bought this camera right before taking a long weekend to Baltimore. We were able to take quality photos the entire weekend; the only issue being a dead battery with little warning. It's easy enough for my 13 year old to use and not so expensive that I don't want him using it. The lenses that came with the kit were great for what I needed to do. The only additional items I bought were UV filters to protect the lenses. I would definitely recommend this camera for someone who wants an entry level DSLR.

Do the lenses come with caps and hoods?
Do the lenses have caps for both sides, does the body have a cap, and do the lenses come with hoods? If not, what are some compatible hoods that would work well to combat flare?
Both lenses come with caps for the front and back. The 55-200 lens also comes with a hood. The hood attaches securely to that lens, but doesn't work on the 18-55 lens because that lens doesn't have the corresponding tabs to secure the hood to the lens.
