Need to be able to VPN into network. and Use MS Explorer to access corporate sites once logged on. Need to use Excel and MS Word.
Depends on the VPN client you are using but most are supported

For Laptops?

Do I have to buy something special to use it with my Desktop? I would buy the desktop version, but only Samsung direct has it, and its $50 more.

I have a iBuyPower computer, currently running a 128GB SSD. Wondering if the "for laptops" means anything.
If you are current using a SSD, then this should work the same. You may need a 2.5 to 3.5 caddy to install in a 3.5 bay. But most new systems have 2.5 bays
