What's great about it: Works very well, easy to set up and get running.
What's not so great: Nothing!
I bought the WNDR4500 from BestBuy on March 13th and set it up and running and using on March 14th. I first had to configure my AT&T dsl modem by copying the info from AT&T support page and carrying out that procedure. Then I just followed the directions for my Netgear router setup and everything fell into place and play. I have not turned off the router since I set it up. I do turn off the wireless broadcast button as I use the wired gigabit connections the most at this time. Everything works and I have had no problems and have not had to contact any live support! I only had to update the unit just once by internet.
This product has... Fast connection, Dual band, Reliable connection, looks good, long range, Easy to setup
About me... Budget Conscious, Heavy media streamer, love computers, desire to learn more

What's great about it: It improved my outside antenna signal to all 4 connections in my home.
What's not so great: None. I have had no problems with this mini drop amplifier.
I had previously purchased the rocketfish 2-way signal amplifier several years ago. It works great. It improves the signal with additional splitters to all the TV's and other items with a built in digital tv tuner connected to my outside hdtv anntenna. I decided to purchase the 4-way amplifier and ran four coaxial cable wires going straight to my TV's and other devices. This way no additional splitters are needed. Also, the 4-way amplifier is about half the price from a few years ago. I have been very pleased with this set up.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Using this amplifier, can I use one HD TV Antenna to supply adequate signal to 4 TVs
Yes, it will. That is the way I use mine. Works great!

Does the amplifier provide 4db gain per each pole or is the gain split to all poles.
There will be 4db gain for each out.

Will this work with a DTV converter box?
I have an 25 foot tall HDTV antenna and i want to hook 3 TVs, the den, living room and bedroom. will this keep the signal strength for all 3 TVs?
Yes it should. Connect this nice amplifier to the antenna and then 3 or 4 good Rg6 coaxial cables from it to the other devices.

can it be used as a 1:4 splitter without power
There are very good "plain " splitters that would work quite well in the situation you are trying to use. I would not use a powered amplifier like this nice RF-G1179 for that job.

Does splitter degrade the internet speed?
I get my internet (25mb) through my TV cable network. The G1179 decreases the internet speed (down to 2mb) when splitting the cable between my modem and a cable ready TV. Is this typical?
Do not place the amplifier between the cable modem and your tv.

Difference between the RF-G1179 and the RF-G1178
I have a bunch of cable drops in my house and have been using the RF-G1178 and it's been great for boost throughout house. I've got one cable box that may need a little boost because all of the features are not available from the cable box. The RF-G1178 is discontinued. So, are these basically used for same thing? But the RF-G1179 will boost 4 things and not just one?
You do not have to use all 4 outs. It has nice plastic covers for those not needed or used.

IS RF-G1179 AMPLIFIER PASSIVE RETURN OR ACTIVE RETURN. THANK YOU
According to the quick setup guide it has passive reverse.

No signal once powered up...
So I have all coaxes plugged in, and when I connect with the AC power cord, the LED lights up red, but then I lose all signals to each of the 4 lines plugged in to it. It works okay when not powered with AC, but once I plug in AC, the signal to the TV drops out.

Apparently the component connection to Out 1/PWR IN has DC current power flowing thru it. Some components connected by coaxial cable have and provide DC power. Most do not though. Maybe yours does this and that is why it works. If so, you would not need the AC adapter connected to power the amplifier.
