The Bose 301 speakers are good for a small area like an office, kitchen (our use) or bedroom. I would not use them for home theatre as the sound is not full enough and it will be missing bass without a subwoofer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Do I need to buy a sub woofer or a centerspeaker with the 301V ?

You need a sub--as the 301 speakers are missing the deep bass that you will want.
